AP – Michigan’s governor on Wednesday sharply criticized attempts to contain a large oil spill making its way down the Kalamazoo River after the company responsible for the spill said it had redoubled its efforts to clean up the mess.
Investor’s Business Daily – The oil company’s Q2 EPS jumped 72% to $1.67, topping by 11 cents, helped by higher oil prices and refining margins. Revenue and other income rose 39% to $50.1 bil, also beating views. ConocoPhillips said it’ll sell a 40% stake in the Russian oil company Lukoil for $3.44 bil by Q3 and its remaining 60% stake in Lukoil on the open market by the end of 2011.
AP – BP says it has paid $256 million to people who have lost income or profits because of the massive Gulf oil spill. That includes $30 million over the past week.
