AP – A more than 2-year-old backlog of federal oil and gas leases in Wyoming began breaking loose Friday as the U.S. Bureau of Land Management announced it finally will issue 145 leases sold in June 2008.
Reuters – Chevron Corp, the second-largest U.S. oil company, reported a three-fold jump in quarterly profit on rising oil output, higher energy prices and buoyant margins at its refineries, topping Wall Street forecasts.
On Wednesday this week, Panasonic announced its intentions to purchase remaining shares of Sanyo Electric Co and Panasonic Electric Works (PEW). Panasonic already had a 50% stake in Sanyo as of last year. Sanyo is a big player in the solar market and producer of lithium-ion batteries.

Reuters – Exxon Mobil and Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSa.L) reported strong growth in production on Thursday after years of largely falling output, helping to send second-quarter profits soaring.
